Guj CM Modi firm to complete 'Kalpsar Yojana'

Rajkot, June 8: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said his government is committed to fulfilling the Kalpsar Yojana, which will provide significant contribution in the prosperity of the state.

Addressing a large gathering at Gondal, about 40 km from here this afternoon, after inaugurating the newly constructed ''Auction Hall'' of Gondal Marketing Yard and Movaiya water supply scheme, Mr Modi alleged after independence, the Congress did nothing concrete for water scheme, but began drawing water from the earth when the people of Saurashtra were facing an acute water shortage.

The Congress provided water through tankers and railway trains but did not make any long term water scheme for parched Saurashtra.

The people with vested interests earned money through water tankers by making false entries about supply of water.

He said his government was committed to provide pure water in every village by long term scheme and want to revolutionise Gujarat.

The Chief Minister alleged that Congress, since Nehru's regime, did nothing for the farmers benefit. On the contrary, his governemnt always cared for farmers and provided them electricity through 'Jyoti Gram' yojana and water through Narmada Canal.

Mr Modi said his government has constructed nearly one lakh check dams for water conservations in Saurashtra and Gujarat.

He said under NDA rule, the godowns were filled with foodgrains, but the situation had reversed in last three years under UPA regime.

Movaiya water supply scheme, inaugurated by the Chief Minister, would cover 38 villages. 20 lakh litres capacity of water tank was construted at the site to distribute the water through filter plant to said villages. The water scheme cost Rs 17.12 crore.

Gujarat BJP president Purshotam Rupala also spoke on the occasion.
