Tamil Nadu: Jayalalithaa demands cadre release

Chennai, June 7: AIADMK General Secretary and Former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa tonight appealed for the immediate release of AIADMK cadre arrested by police today.

In a statement here, Ms Jayalalithaa said the cadre took out peaceful rallies to condemn Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's purported derogatory remarks against her when they were attacked by goons allegedly owing allegiance to the ruling DMK.

''Instead of tackling the goons, the police stood as mute spectators and attacked the AIADMK rallyists,'' she claimed and said this deserved condemnation.

Tata bags Best Speaciality Coffee Award at IICF
