New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) In another incident of racism, South Africa pacer Andre Nel has claimed he faced racist remarks in a recent County Championship match, when a man from the stands called him a 'Khaffir'.
Nel heard the spectator's shout while fielding during Essex's Championship match against Surrey at Whitgift School, London.
''It's uncalled for, no need for players to take that kind of abuse,'' Nel told Cricinfo.
However, Nel got the support of another spectator called Russell Chapman who stood up and told the man that he could not use such racist language.
Although disgusted, Nel tried to shrug off the incident and said, ''I can take it because it can happen everywhere but there's no reason to get abuse from someone who doesn't even know what the word properly means. Racism doesn't deserve a place in any sport.'' Nel's brush with racism is not new. He had to face similiar remarks last year on his tour to Australia, where Cricket South Africa lodged an official complaint after spectators shouted insults at him and other members of the squad.
