TN Minister cautions people on Jaya's 'false campaign'

Chennai, June 7 (UNI) DMK General Secretary and Tamil Nadu Finance Minister K Anbazhagan today cautioned the people against the 'false campaign orchestrated as part of political conspiracy' by Former Chief Minister and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa and asked the party cadre to remain calm in the face of provocative acts by the AIADMK partymen.

In a release here tonight, Mr Anbazhagan, referring to the 'Kodanadu Estate' controversy, debunked the claims made by Ms Jayalalithaa she did not own the property.

He said when Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi gave evidence of the palatial building in the estate being held by her jointly with her friend Sasikala, the AIADMK leader, in a bid to anger her cadre, spread the rumour of an impending Income Tax raid on her Poes Garden Residence.

She ensured hundreds of party cadre converged before her residence and raised slogans to ensure it made headlines.

Mr Anbazhagan said the IT Department was under the Centre's control and it had every right to conduct raids on those who obtained wealth by illegal means.

However, the IT Department did not conduct any raids on her residence contrary to her claims. When Ms Jayalalithaa was in power, she foisted cases on DMK leaders whose premises were also raided by the DVAC sleuths.

But the DMK cadre did not indulge in any acts similar to the incidents which occurred today including setting a police official on fire, he said while asking partymen to remain calm in the face of provocative acts by the AIADMK people.
