Madhya Pradesh: Counting begins at Shivpuri

Shivpuri (MP), June 5: Amid tight security, counting of votes polled during the by-election to this assembly constituency began at 0800 hrs today.

The venue is the Madhav Rao Scindia Government PG College where CRPF and local police personnel are stationed.

The results are expected to be announced by noon. Total 56.6 per cent of 1,92,452 electorates exercised their frenchise on June 2 through electronic voting machines.

The by-poll was necessiated following the resignation of the then state tourism minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia of BJP after her election to the Lok Sabha from Gwalior constituency.

Out of total 15 candidates in the fray in Shivpuri, Ganesh Ram Gautam (BJP) and Virendra Raghuvanshi (Congress) are some prominent names.

NDA stages walkout, Railway Budget put on hold

New Delhi, Feb 26: Opposition National Democratic Alliance today disrupted the Rail Budget presentation by Railways Minister Lalu Prasad to force the Government to come out with its explanation on the suppression of the news of detention of Italian fugitive Ottavio Quattrocchi wanted in connection with the Bofors kickbacks case.Parliament has been adjourned till noon as NDA stages walkout.This was decided at a meeting of NDA leaders chaired by Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.....
