BJP National Executive postponed to June 25-26

New Delhi, Jun 5: The National Executive of the Bharatiya Janata Party will be held on June 25 and 26 in New Delhi instead of Jaipur on June 15 and 16.

A decision to this effect was taken at the meeting of General Secretaries of the BJP today. The party decided to have the Office Bearers' meeting on June 24 to set the agenda for the Executive, BJP Spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad told newspersons after the meeting.

Originally the Executive was to be held in Jaipur but stood postponed because of the week long Gujjar protests that rocked several states in the north demanding Scheduled Tribe status to the community.

The General Secretaries meeting was presided over by BJP President Rajnath Singh and was attended by all General Secretaries excepting Mr Arun Jaitley and Mr Vijay Katiyar.

Seeking an explanation regarding Mr Jaitley's absence, Mr Prasad explained that he was out on a tour abroad, fixed one and a half months ago. Mr Katiyar could not make it to the meeting because of a death in the family, he clarified.
