Chidambaram to inaugurate Bangalore Bio 2007

Bangalore, June 2: Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram will inaugurate the seventh edition of Bangalore Bio 2007 to be held here from June Seven to Nine.

The three-day mega event will be simultaneously a Conference, a Business forum and a Trade Exhibition for the entire Biotech and allied industry and will be held at Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC) located at Tumkur Road, Bangalore.

The Event and the Multi Dimensional Conference would also have distinguished guests including Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, British Commissioner to India Sir Michael Arthur, Prof David de Kretser, Governor, State of Victoria, Professor Sir David Lane and Lady Brigette Lane, Executive Directors, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB), Singapore, Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson of Karnataka Vision group on Biotechnology, Chairman and Managing Director of Biocon India Ltd, Dr Villoo Morawala Patell, Founder and Managing Director Avestha Gengraine Technologies, Dr K K Narayanan, President Association of Biotech Led Enterprises, Dr Nezih Cereb, Managing Director, President&Co-founder, Histogenetics, USA and Dr Mangala Rai, Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

This year the conference was expected to attract more than 80 international and national speakers and over 700 delegates from industry, academia, R&D and policy makers. Concurrently, Bangalore Bio 2007 would host the International Trade show, CEO conclave, Poster Session, Multi-track International Conference, Agribiotech day, Awards Nite, BYB Forum, Industry Trails and Career Forum.

Cauvery: Complete shutdown of K'taka on Feb 12

Bangalore, Feb 10: Karnataka will be completely shutdown on Feb 12 from 6 am to 6pm to support statewide bandh called by Kannada organisations against the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal verdict. No buses will be plying on the road as KSRTC and BMTC have decided to participate.The Government has declared holiday for all schools and colleges on Feb 12.
