Election Commission asks non-voters to leave Ullal

Mangalore, May 30: The District Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, who is also District Election Officer, today asked all political functionaries, who are not voters, to vacate the Ullal constituency by 1700 hrs tomorrow to ensure smooth conduct of polls on June Two.

Talking to newsmen he said that, all political functionaries and party workers other than voters should not remain in the constituency after deadline tomorrow. All outsiders engaged by political parties for campaigning should also vacate.

Use of Cellular phones, wireless sets, among other electronic gadgets were banned within 100 mts of polling booths, he added.

Mr Rao said that of the total 1,60,862 voters 90.22 per cent were issued with election photo identity cards. There are 81,802 women voters.

K'taka: Miscreants ransack pvt channel office

Mangalore, July 23: Miscreants allegedly attacked a private TV Channel office here last night and ransacked the office computers, camera and furniture following alleged exposure of blue film racket in the city in its programme 'Warrant' recently. Reporter Rajesh Shetty, who tried to prevent the miscreant from entering the office, was attacked by the culprits. He sustained minor injuries. Senior police officials including Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar visited the office......
