Bangalore, Kolkata in 'World of Choice Brochures'

Bangalore, May 29: Bangalore and Kolkata have been included in the new edition of "World of Choice Brochures" for 2007-08, unveiled by Emirates Holidays.

In its 17th year, the latest Emirates Holidays brochures feature the largest-ever range of holidays in four volumes, covering the West Asia, Africa and Indian Ocean, Europe and The Americas, Asia and Australia and the brand-new Dubai and the Emirates.

On offer were flexible, affordable and quality holidays to more than 120 stunning leisure destinations in 39 countries and a choice of more than 1,000 accommodation options.

In all, nearly 4,00,000 brochures would be distributed through travel agents in the, West Asia Africa, Europe and Asia, to thousands of potential travellers, according to an Emirates release here.

The Asia and Australasia brochure introduces two new Indian cities - Kolkata and Bangalore. Termed as the City of Gardens, Bangalore finds eminence in the brochure.

Bangalore's many tourist attractions, including the heritage structures of Bangalore Palace and Fort, the Bull Temple, Jumma Masjid, Vidhana Soudha, the Government Museum, Tipu's Palace and Lal Bagh Gardens, that render character to this beautiful city, have found place in this brochure.

Local handicrafts made of sandalwood and rose wood, gold, jewellery and silk were also mentioned, as were the city's famous hotels.

Emirates Sales Manager (Karnataka) Pradeep Suvarna, in the release said, "Bangalore - the Silicon Valley of India attracts corporates from across the world on duty travel. International tourists can find here a rocking lifestyle among a business twist, together with the eternally rich heritage and tradition. The World of Choice brochure takes the city"s fusion theme to a global audience and this is bound to boost tourist arrivals."

Bangalore together with New Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Kochi, Agra, Jaipur, Hyderabad and Kolkata comprise the India section of the brochure.

The top 12 destinations on Emirates Holidays' network in passenger numbers were the UAE, Malaysia, Thailand, Germany, the UK, Mauritius, Maldives, Egypt, Singapore, France, India and Australia.

Cauvery: Complete shutdown of K'taka on Feb 12
