Vigilance attaches 3 shops of tainted forest official in J

Srinagar, May 22 (UNI) Armed under the amended Jammu and Kashmir Prevention of Corruption Act 2006, State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) has attached 3 shops belonging to a forest official.

A spokesman of the SVO said on December 20, last year a case under First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Mohinder Lal, the then Incharge Range Officer, Integrated Water Development Project (IWDP), Sunderbani.

During the preliminary verifications, prima-facie was established that he indulged in corrupt practices and accumulated movable and immovable assets highly disproportionate to his known sources of income, which include two houses, three shops, three plots of land and four vehicles.

He said, in the course of search of his house, the SVO recovered incriminating documents relating to the acquisition of assets by the accused forest official which include 12 bank pass books having a credit balance of Rs 4 lakh, cash certificates worth Rs 2 lakh and LIC policies.

The Vigilance Organisation in terms of powers under section 8(b) of Prevention of Corruption amendment Act 2006 r/w PC amendment Act 2007 ordered the attachment of 3 shops constructed on a piece of land at Village Kasba Balla, Nowshera.
