Mysore, May 22 (UNI) University of Mysore Department of Library Sciences Reader Y Venkatesh was today arrested by police for alleged dowry harassment.
Police said Dr Venkatesh, the son-in-law of Former University Vice-Chancellor Y P Rudrappa, was arrested at his residence on a complaint from his wife Dr Sudha, who alleged he was harassing her for more dowry.
Dr Sudha said she was married to Dr Venkatesh 13 years back and was given Rs one lakh in cash and jewellery as dowry. However, now, he was forcing her to bring more money and harassing her.
Dr Venkatesh, who was produced before a city court, was remanded to judicial custody.
