Mysore, May 22 (UNI) University of Mysore Department of Library Sciences Reader Dr Y Venkatesh was today arrested by the Women police for alleged dowry harassment.
Police said Dr Venkatesh, the son-in-law of former University Vice-Chancellor Dr Y P Rudrappa, was arrested at his residence on a complaint from his wife Dr Sudha, who alleged that he was harassing her to bring more dowry.
Dr Sudha said she was married to Dr Venkatesh 13 years back and he was given Rs One lakh in cash and jewellery as dowry. However, now he was forcing her to bring more money and harassing her.
Dr Venkatesh, who was produced before a City Court, was remanded to judicial custody.
