Sports minister inspects facilities

Hyderabad, May 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Sports and IT R Damodhar Reddy today inspected the summer coaching camp at Gymkhana grounds, Secunderabad.

The Minister visited the Athletics, Boxing, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Tennis, Basketball, Handball and Yoga coaching centre.

He interacted with players, coaches and parents regarding the facilities and materials being provided for the camps.

In a brief message to the players and coaches, he said at Gymkhana grounds for the summer camps and even regular camps, there was good response.

He said the SAAP would arrange to provide sufficient ''bath rooms'' and drinking water facilities, and directed SAAP officials to prepare and submit a detailed project report to upgrade the coaching centres at Gymkhana grounds.

He instructed the SAAP officers to provide water coolers immediately and submit a proposal for construction of a Yoga hall. He advised the coaches to work hard and bring good results to the state and the country.

He assured the coaches that the issue of regularization of their services would be takenup with the government in due course. He said some more coaches would be appointed in the SAAP on contract basis.

Mr D Murali Mohan, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, SAAP and other officers accompanied the minister.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
