Speaking to newsmen here, after returning from his US tour, he said that he discussed with Dr Tyeri Thakkar of the University on various issues such as agriculture extension programme and the new technological ideas to ensure better yield.
Replying to queries, he said the University had good technology with regard to food processing and market maintainence and it could be applied for development of agriculture crops across the State.
Various aspects including the cold storage chain, disease free plants and fruits and vegetables processing could be given more imporance, he felt.
He observed that if the new policy with regard to wine production was implemented it could also attract more people visiting the State to boost tourism.
Horticulture Principal Secretary D Venkateshwara Rao, Horticulture Director G K Vasanth Kumar, who had accompanied the Minister during his US visit, were also present.
