Silver up by Rs 95 per kg

Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) Precious metals were on the upswing today in line with global advices with Silver up by Rs 95 per kg and Gold by Rs 25 per ten gm on the Bombay Bullion Exchange.

Silver fineness .999 opened upward at Rs 18,295 per kg on good demand. Later, it edged up and closed at Rs 18,350 with a gain of Rs 95 from yesterday's close of Rs 18,255.

In London, Silver also inched up to USD 13.05/13.08 per troy ounce against USD 12.92/12.94 per troy ounce in New York.

Similarly, standard Gold (99.5) and pure Gold (99.9) also advanced at Rs 8,750 and Rs 8,800 per ten gm due to fresh buying support.

Later, the yellow metal slightly improved and closed at Rs 8755 for standard gold and Rs 8,805 for pure gold, gaining Rs 25 each.

In London, Gold also shot up to USD 661.00/664.00 per troy ounce as compared to USD 658.00/660.00 per troy ounce in New York on Monday.

Ban Maoists in West Bengal, advices Chidambaram

New Delhi, June 20 (ANI): Chief Minister of West Bengal, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, has clarified on Saturday that he has been advised by the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to ban the Maoists in the state.Further, Buddhadeb said that he would give a serious thought to the Home Minister's advice in view of the expanding influence of hundreds of Maoists, who in the past one-week have chased away police and killed government supporters in and around the Lalgarh in West Bengal......
