Preserve Adivasi culture, says Governor

Shimla, May 22 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Governor V S Kokje today called for the preservation of ''Adivasi''culture so that their separate identity could be maintained.

Speaking on the inaugural function of a three-day long National seminar on Tribal Culture here, he said efforts should be made to preserve their culture besides providing them all basic facilities.

Mr Kokje praised the activities of Adivasi Academy and said it proposed to open a research centre ''Himlok'' in Kinnaur district and opening of a Tribal Research Centre in the state was also under consideration.

He expressed hope that these Research Centres would contribute toward preservation of tribal culture in the state.
