Number of graduates in the country inadequate: Shinde

Hazaribagh, May 22 (UNI) Union Energy Minister Shushil Kumar Shinde today stressed the need of establishing more universities and educational institutions to produce more graduates in the country.

Addressing fourth convocation programme of Vinoba Bhave University here, Mr Shinde said at present the number of total graduates was around 60 lakhs which was meagre in the total population of 100 crores adding more educational institutions should be opened to meet the demand.

Mr Shinde said emphasis should be given over technical education and it was the effort of former Prime Minister Rajeev Gandhi that India became 'technologically sound' in information technology sector.

He said youths would play vital role in the development of the country as about 56 per cent of the total population of India belonged to youths.

The Jharkhand Governor, who was also present on the ocassion, said that special focus should be given over educating women.

Chief Minister Madhu Koda and state Human Resources Development Minister Bandhu Tirkey were also present.

No consular access to indians in Pak jail: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 14:  The government today informed the Lok Sabha that at least 92 Indian civilian prisoners in Pakistani jails have yet not been given consular access."Besides 390 fishermen and 149 civilian prisoners and 74 PoWs are still languishing in Pakistani jails," External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in a written reply.The minister was asked whether the government had any reports of inhuman treatment meted out to Indian prisoners in Paksitan.The minsiter said Indian prisoners released by Pakistan had reported.....
