MP CM claims foreign trip a success on investment front

Bhopal, May 22 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has claimed that, during his just-concluded UK-US tour, he succeeded in his primary objective of showcasing the state as an attractive investment destination.

''Four MoU were inked and several entrepreneurs plus NRI industrialists expressed interest in investing in this state,'' he said here yesterday during a brief interaction with reporters.

Later addressing BJP workers from Sehore, Raisen and Vidisha districts at his residence, Mr Chouhan said May 16 was observed as Madhya Pradesh Day in St Louis County and this would be the case in later years as well. Mayors from many cities attended a programme there and were provided information regarding this state.

During the trip, the Chief Minister told the investors that Madhya Pradesh possessed reserves of coal, aluminium, copper, limestone, marble, methane and diamonds. The investors expressed interest in setting up mineral-based industry and also farm produce-based plants besides sugar factories.

''The UK's eminent business magnates Lakshmi Mittal, Lord Swraj Paul, his son Angad and several industrialists are keen on investment. Discussions took place with House of Commons' members.

Agricultural and other products will be exported from this state,'' said Mr Chouhan who has invited industrialists to attend a Gobal Investors' Meet scheduled here on October 26 and 27.
