Metal prices up on lesser stock supply

Mumbai, May 22 (UNI) Metal prices today went up on lesser stock supply, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In the ferrous section, copper heavy and copper utensils were up by Rs 400 and Rs 700 per quintal due to higher advice. Brass utensil and Brass cutting also shot up by Rs 200 per quintal each on heavy demand from retailers.

In the non-ferrous category, copper wire bars and Aluminium Ingot edged up by Rs 700 and Rs 100 per quintal respectively on better buying support.

Tin slab and Nickel cathode also rose by Rs 10 and Rs 20 per kg due to increase in demand.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 35,200, Copper utensils - Rs 31,500, Brass utensils - Rs 25,500, Brass cuttings - Rs 26,300 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 11,950.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 39,000, Aluminium ingots - Rs 14,200, Zinc slabs - Rs 19,600, Lead ingots - Rs 9,700, Tin slab - Rs 730 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 2,300 (per kg).

Sensex slips by 333.30 pts, Nifty down by 113.20 pts

Mumbai, Jan 30: The Sensex today nosedived by 333.30 points on the Bombay Stock Exchange to close at 17,758.64 and the Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange shed 113.20 points, tracking weak European and Asian markets ahead of reported possible additional rate cut by US Federal Reserve. A day after the RBI's third quaterly review, Sensex, after resuming the day in positive zone at 18,120.22, turned into a red zone in early trade. It touched an intraday low at 17,683.51,.....
