Maoists loot gun from BSF Jawan's house

Jamshedpur, May 22 (UNI) About 20 armed Maoist rebels raided the house of a BSF jawan at Jhunjhka village in East Singbhum and made away with his his licensed double-barrel gun, police said.

The uniform-clad Maoist ultras last night banged into the house of Jawan Kartik Singh, who is posted in West Bengal, and after tying Singh's two brothers with ropes, broke open the almirah where the gun was kept.

The brothers lodged an FIR with Patamda police station yesterday regarding the incident.

Police later raided the villages adjoining the Jharkhand-West Bengal border but failed to trace the ultras.

The rebels attacked the village within 24 hours of district superintendent of police Pankaj Darad launched an anti-extremist operation to flush out the outlaws from the border areas.
