Koda favours talks to sort NTPC's coal project

Hazaribagh, May 22: Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today said the matter of NTPC's Pakri Barwadih Coal project would be sorted through negotiations and adequate compensation would be given to the displaced.

CM said that the troubles of residents here would be taken care of as the National Thermal Power Corporation would also provide residential facility to the displaced families.

Mr Koda further said the coal project was equally important as it would bring royalty and energy to the state.

Speaking about the railway line project connecting Koderma to Ranchi via Hazaribagh, Mr Koda said the state government had provided funds to the Centre and land acquisition was also done but Centre was yet to expedite the project.

To a query over illegal minning, Mr Koda said the implementation of National Rural Employement Gurantee Act in the state had resulted in the decline in cases of illegal minning, adding about 9 lakh people had been so far benefitted under the scheme.
