Janata Party hails BSP's 'social engineering'

Chennai, May 22: Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy today said the victory of Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh through 'social engineering' of bringing together the upper and the lower castes must be emulated, especially in Tamil Nadu.

Answering questions on the BSP's win in the assembly polls recently, he said 'the social engineering' carried out by Mayawati needs to be brought about in Tamil Nadu. ''A new social engineering is needed in Tamil Nadu as such Caste Socialism would ultimately remove casteism in the country'', he pointed out.

"The Brahmins in UP constitute only 18 per cent. But the forward castes in Tamil Nadu have more poorer sections," he added.

He also pointed out that reservation was no solution for the woes of the backward classes. ''They need to be given top class education,'' he said.

UP Gov invites Mayawati to form next Govt

Lucknow, May 12: Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar today invited Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati to form the next government in the state. The BSP leader met the Governor at Raj Bhawan this afternoon to stake claim to form the new government. Ms Mayawati also showed her credentials as the leader of BSP's newly-formed Legislature Party, following which she was invited to take oath of office and secrecy. She would be sworn.....
