Jaitley releases BJP's manifesto for Goa

Panaji, May 22 (UNI) BJP national general secretary Arun Jaitley today released the party's ''people-friendly'' manifesto for the June 2 elections to the Goa Legislative Asembly.

''It is a positive document with a pledge to people of Goa that the BJP would provide them with a govenment with good governance carrying credibility and conviction,'' Mr Jaitley told mediapersons here.

He said there is a double anti-incumbency -- both at the Centre and the unstable and corrupt Congress-led government in Goa. The door should be shown to the Congress, paving way for the BJP, he asserted While the people had lost their confidence in the UPA government that failed to check spiralling price rise and compromised national security, the state government was reeking with ''corruption and malgovernance'', he alleged.

''The BJP strategy in Goa is to form government with absolute majority on its own and we are confident we could do it in the current political scenario,'' the former Union minister said.

Recalling how the BJP government was pulled down overnight in 2005 by vested interests and a corrupt government was formed that destroyed the identity of Goa through misadventure, Mr Jaitely said it was always dangerous to ''ride the tiger''.

''Goa is now witnessing the revenge of history, with the rats deserting the sinking Congress ship and its support base being chipped away,'' he added.
