Anand, May 22 (UNI) Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 12.5 lakh was seized by police at Vasad on National Highway number 8 and two persons arrested in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, the police last night intercepted a truck, coming from Alwar in Rajasthan, near Sakar Hotel in Vasad area. A search was conducted and they found 650 boxes of IMFL clandestinely stocked under the chemical boxes, police said here today.
The police have arrested the truck driver, Bilavarkhan Nazarkhan, and his brother, Liyasatkhan Nazarkhan, under the Prohibition law. On interrogation, they admitted that they were carrying the liquor to Maharashtra.
The police have impounded the truck worth Rs 10 lakh and chemicals worth Rs 50,000, besides 650 boxes of liquor.
