Former AGP minister joins AGP(P)

Guwahati, May 22 (UNI) Former Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) minister and two time MLA Rekha Rani Das Boro today formally joined the rebel AGP (P).

She was already expelled from the AGP for being a rebel candidate in the last election. She was welcomed to the party by AGP(P) president and former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta and former minister Gunin Hazarika.

Speaking on the occasion, both Mr Mahanta and Mrs Bodo castigated the AGP leadership for failing to give directions to the party and carry forward regionalism in Asom.

Along with Mrs Boro representatives from eight regional bodies of the AGP of Nalbari district have also joined. The AGP(P) last week received a shot in the arm when several regional units of Jorhat district joined the AGP(P).

The AGP (P) has one MLA in the House but they had been trying to unite the party with the mother party, which has been opposed by the current leadership of the AGP.
