Dearness Relief rate enhanced to 35 % for UT pensioners

Chandigarh, May 22 (UNI) The Chandigarh Administration has enhanced the rates of Dearness Relief being given to pensioners or family pensioners of the union territory from the existing 29 per cent to 35 per cent with effect from January 1, 2007.

Other provisions governing the grant of Dearness Relief to pensioners, such as regulation of Dearness Relief during employment or re-employment and where more than one pension is drawn etc., will remain unchanged.

It would now be the responsibility of Pension Disbursing Authority, including the Nationalized banks etc., to calculate the quantum of Dearness Relief payable in each individual case.

All District Treasury Officers, Treasury Officers and Public Sector Banks have been requested to immediately arrange payments of Dearness Relief as per the orders.
