Polling stations for Manipur by-poll sensitive

Imphal, May 22: All the 60 polling stations at Khundrakpam and Khangabok Assembly constituencies will be considered 'sensitive' and adequate central para-military forces posted for the June 2 by-election, Manipur CEO R R Rashmi today said.

The Khangabok seat in Thoubal district was vacated by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh as he won in two constituencies. By-poll to Khundrakpam constituency at Imphal East was necessitated by the death of NCP MLA Th Navakumar.

Mr Rashmi said by 3 pm of May 31 all poll related activities will come to a halt. Voting in the two constituencies would be held from 7 am to 3 pm. No additional security personnel would be brought in for election duty, the CEO maintained.

Repolling, if necessary, would be held on June 4, he said.

The total number of voters at Khundrakpam is 23,116 and in Khangabok 29,110.

In all six candidates are in the fray at Khundrakpam and three at Khangabok.

No alliance with big parties for UP polls: Digvijay
