Demolition of illegal structurs continue in Kerala district

Alappuzha, May 21 (UNI) The revenue officials today intensified their action against encroachment by demolishing illegal structures in the district.

The officials accompanied by police demolished illegal buildings near KSRTC stand, Savakotta Bridge and Komady.

The officials said they had identified buildings which were constructed by occupying national highway land and the eviction process would continue in the coming days.

Kerala: 3 yr jail term for encroaching Govt land

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 5: The Kerala government today decided to promulgate an ordinance to amend the Kerala Land Conservancy Act, 1957 providing for three years' imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50,000 for occupying government land illegally. Briefing mediapersons after a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said punishment for forging registration documents for the purpose would be five years in jail and a fine of Rs 50,000. The ordinance would be sent to Governor R S Gavai for his assent. UNI.....
