Searing sun makes life miserable in Rajasthan

Jaipur, May 15 (UNI) Churu in northern Rajasthan sizzled at 45 degree Celsius and remained the hottest place in the state today.

Except mild showers in Bharatpur and Dholpur districts this morning, the rising mercury in the rest of Rajasthan is making the heat unbearable for people.

The searing sun and accompanying hot winds made the temperature in the state capital touch 42.5 degree Celsius. People remained indoors with major roads and thoroughfares empty during the afternoon.

Dholpur recorded 8 mm rain while it was 2.6 mm in Bharatpur.

According to weather department, Kota and Ganganagar recorded 44 degree Celsius, Bikaner 42 degrees, Ajmer and Jaisalmer 41 degrees, Barmer 40 degrees, Udaipur and Jodhpur were at 38 degrees.

The weathermen predicted duststorms with thunder, lightening and rains in the north-eastern regions of the state in the next 24 hours.

Raj: 16 families return into Khalsa Panth

Sriganganagar, May 21: Amid row over the activities of Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, as many as 16 families of nearby 3-H Chhoti village, followers of the Dera mission, have returned into the Khalsa Panth. These families were baptised into the Khalsa Panth in a brief religious function held in the village gurdwara on Saturday evening. Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee(SGPC) Member Surjit Singh Kang, Shiromani Akali Dal Rajasthan unit general secretary.....
