Rajasthan: Police recover missing AK 47 rifle

Jaipur, May 15: Police have recovered the AK 47 rifle snatched away by villagers after attacking a police party in Arodha village in Karauli district recently.

District superintendent of Police Praful Kumar told sources that the missing AK 47 has been recovered.

Mr Kumar said a police party from Misalpur police station went to Arodha village to verify the veracity of a complaint regarding 'child marriage' being held in the village.

But the police party was attacked by some villagers. They locked up two policemen in a room and snatched away an AK 47 rifle. Later police team reached the spot and released the captive police personnel.

Mr Kumar said the attack on the police personnel has nothing to do with the child marriage. He said the complaint of child marriage was found to be false.

He said a fortnight ago a criminal accused of murder charge was arrested by the police from the village and the attack was a revenge for the arrest.

Police have taken into custody 15 people in conenction with the incident.
