New Delhi, May 15: Terming the incidents of human trafficking by MPs as unfortunate, Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee today decided to set up a parliamentary committee to go into all cases of misconduct by members of Parliament.
An all party meeting chaired by Mr Chatterjee also condemned the incident involving BJP MP Babubhai Katara who was arrested from IGI airport after being caught while trying to take another woman abroad on the passport of his wife.
Addressing mediapersons, Mr Chatterjee said all the leaders of various parties had taken the issue very seriously and wanted that a message should go that there would be no laxity shown in dealing with such misconduct by MPs.
''Let nobody think that we are ignoring the misconduct of all sections of the House,'' Mr Chatterjee said.
The Speaker said the Committee would also lay down the guidelines about the conduct of MPs and how to deal with cases of misuse of privileges and facilities like railway passes, accommodation and misuse of passports in future.
Stating that he would be announcing the chairman and the members of the Committee in a day or two, he said it would be submitting its report at the earliest.
