No decision yet on merger of MMTC-STC-PEC

New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh today said the government has not yet taken a decision on the merger of state-owned Metals and Minerals Corpopration (MMTC), State Trading Corporation (STC) and Project and Equipment Corporation (PEC).

In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, he said all three Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been asked by the government to consult employees for their feedback on the recommendation made by the consultant firm.

The Minister said the consultant company was engaged to carry out a study to assess the role of the three PSUs in the liberalised Indian ecnonomy and to recommend the business model and processes these state enterprises should adopt and structural changes, if any, required to adopt the recommended business model and processes for their long-term sustainability and growth. ''The consultant firm has, among others, recommended the merger of these organisations.'' UNI

French cannibal killed fellow cellmate, ate one of his lungs

London, May 28 (ANI): A cannibal prisoner torn open another inmate's chest and ate one of his lungs, prosecutors have alleged.Nicolas Cocaign, 37, is said to have cooked the organ with onions, olive oil, salt and pepper on a stove, reports The Sun.According to reports, the horrific incident took place in a jail in the French city of Rouen, where Cocaign was being held for rape.Following the incident, Nicolas has been moved to a psychiatric unit......
