McAfee to have Indian subsidiary soon

Bangalore, May 15 (UNI) McAfee, a worldwide on-line security player, will soon have its Indian subsidiary to tap the rich market potential in the country, Executive Vice President Roger J King said today.

Speaking at a press conference here he said McAfee, which already enjoyed support from over 90 per cent of India's BPO customer base, was working towards rebuilding its brand presence and consolidate its position as the leaders in the security solution space.

He said the company which had only its liason office in the country now, would soon have a fully owned subsidiary to deliver its 'best-of-breed' products and services that protect its customer's IT systems and infrastructure.

He said the company which began its operations in India in 1998 had seen a phenomenal growth and was pioneer in the proactive security solution programme and intended to spread the concept of proactive security in the country.

The company which offered the industry's only complete set of system and network protection software solutions would concentrate on products such as the anti-virus and managed virus scan ePO, which were targeted at desktops, small and medium business and large enterprises in India.

Mr King said McAfee accounted for 20 per cent of its total business in Asia Pacific. Over 40 per cent of its European workers had been stationed in McAfee India Center (MCI). While corporate sector contributed over 70 per cent of its Indian business, the rest was from consumer business area, he said.

Reluctant to share McAfee's earnings from the security business, Mr King however said the total world revenue from the sector was around $ 1.3 billion.
