Indian Taekwondo team leaves for Beijing

Bangalore, May 15 (UNI) The 15-member Indian Taekwondo team left here today for Beijing to participate in the 18th WTF World Taekwondo Championship, to be held from May 18 to 22.

The team comprised seven men and eight women players.

Following is the team: Men: Sunil Kumar (Kar), Abdul Mobeen Khan (UP), Jagjeet Singh Mand (MP), Umesh Tamang (Skm), K Dorababu (AP), Ibrahim Khan (SSCB), Sushant Gupta (UP). Coach: Theophile Loe Lowe.

Women: Swati Phadke (Mah), S Surbala Hanu (Mpr), Seema Deswal (Dli), Trupti L Veer (Mah), Meera Chettri (Skm), Kalpana Kamal (UP), Milan U Dhanwade (Mah), Supriya B Joshi(Mah). Coach: Jasobanta Singh.

Taiwan also banking on taekwondo for medals

Taipei: Taiwan see the Sydney Olympics as their best chance yet for a first gold medal, thanks to debut sports taekwondo and women's weightlifting."It is generally believed we are strong in weightlifting and taekwondo.
