Govt contractor imprisoned for misappropriation of funds

Patna, May 15 (UNI) The special vigilance court here today sentenced a government contractor to two years of imprisonment, in addition to a fine of Rs 2,000, on charges of misappropriation of government funds and cheating.

The court announced its decision, after the accused Arjun Singh confessed his crime and admitted that in collusion with some government officials he withdrew excess amount from the government fund.

According to the charges, the fund allocated for Rashtriya Gramin Niyojan Programme was misappropriated under a criminal conspiracy in Piro block of Bhojpur district by the then government officials and contractors in 1982-83.

Earlier, the then Block Development Officer(BDO) Muni Lal Mochi, two engineers and a contractor were found guilty and sentenced by the same designated court.
