Fake encounter case: 3 ATS personnel remanded till May 19

Ahmedabad, May 15 (UNI) A local court today extended the police remand till May 19 of police inspector N H Dabhi, head constable Santaram Sharma and armed constable Ajay Parmar, arrested by CID (crime) in connection with Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

Hearing the application filed by the Crime Branch, that sought a longer period of remand, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate K J Upadhyay extended remand of the three personnel from Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) by four more days.

The trio - Dabhi, Sharma and Parmar - was arrested on May 7 on the charges of helping DIG D G Vanzara and others in the fake encounter of Sohrabuddin in November 2005.

Meanwhile, more IPS officers are likely to be arrested in the case. Vanzara's driver Nathusinh Jadeja, who confessed to being an eyewitness to burning of Kausar Bi in the fields of Illol, Vanzara's home village in Sabarkantha district, revealed names of few more officers' involved in the case.
