Chennai, May 15 (UNI) The draft photo electoral rolls for the revision process, with January 1 of this year as the qualifying date, will be published on May 25 and the final rolls will be out by July 11.
Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta told reporters here today that the last date for filing claims and objections was June 11.
During the course of preparing photo rolls, several lakhs of surplus names in the rolls were identified and deleted to prevent impersonation and bogus voting, he added.
This schedule underwent some modifications in view of the delay in completion of the work relating to preparation of photo rolls.
The release said for Madurai West Assembly constituency, where bypoll was due following the death of AIADMK rebel member S V Shanmugham, verification of claims had been completed and the final rolls would be published tomorrow.
