Committee seeks collective efforts to save environment in J

Srinagar, May 15 (UNI) An environment committee of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly has called for collective efforts to protect the environment and ecology of the state.

The committee met under the chairmanship of National Conference legislator Ali Mohammad Sagar here last evening.

The meeting reviewed the observations of previous committees and directed the Assembly Secretariat to call the departments concerned along with action taken report on certain cases pertaining to pollution control.

The Chairman appealed to members to extend their full cooperation and also sought suggestions to save the environment.

He stressed the need for launching awareness campaigns and sought involvement of educational institutions to control the pollution spread by various means.

The meeting was attended by legislators Shanti Devi, Shoaib Lone, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sofi, Sarfraz Khan and Moulvi Abdul Rashid.

Complete 'bandh' hits life in Jammu
