BJP targets Luizinho in Navelim

Panaji, May 15 (UNI) The BJP has resolved to mobilise its followers to defeat Industries Minister Luizinho Faleiro in South Goa's Navelim constituency, where it had not fielded its own candidate even as the filing of nominations for the June 2 elections to the Goa Legislative Assembly ended today.

Interacting with the media, BJP opposition leader Manohar Parrikar said, ''Luizinho is our main enemy and we have targetted him for defeat at any cost.'' He, however, denied the party would indirectly support the candidature of Save Goa Front President Churchil Alemao in Navelim saying the latter was also our enemy but the first enemy was Luizinho.

The final picture as to whom to support would come out only after the last date for withdrawal of nominations on May 18. The party has fielded Mr Milagris Gonsalvis for Cuncolim constutuency.

The BJP has fielded 35 candidates of its own and is supporting two others. Mr Parrikar said former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani will kickstart the party campaign from Panaji on May 21 and release the party manifesto which aims at ensuring a ''contented society'' on the basis of plans substantiated with administrative and financial backup.

''The manifesto is based on realities, not castles in the air, to satisfy the Goans,'' he said.
