Bathinda clash: Kalia appeals for peace in Punjab

Chandigarh, May 15 (UNI) Describing yesterday's clash between Dera Sacha Sauda followers and Akali acitivists in Bathinda as ''unfortunate,'' Local Government and Industries Minister Manoranjan Kalia today appealed to the people of Punjab to maintain peace, communal harmony and law and order in the State.

Mr Kalia said the people of Punjab should see through the ''game plan of those who had been discarded in the recently held Assembly elections and were out to disturb the peace and communal harmony in the state.

He said the state government would not allow anyone to disturb the ''hard-earned peace'' in the state.

Dozens injured in clash b/w Dera-Sikh activists

Sirsa, Jul 16: About a dozen people were feared injured today in a clash between followers of Dera Sacha Sauda and Sikh activists at Ghukawali village about 25 km from here. The clash occurred when the Dera chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh, on his way to the Dera headquarters here after successfully holding 'satsang' (prayer meetings), made a halt at Ghukawali village for addressing a religious gathering.
