New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also covered under the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and other Maritime Zones Act of 1976, Minister of State for Home Affairs S Regupathy said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.

The EEZ has been defined as an area beyond and adjacent to the territorial waters and the limit of such zone is two hundred nautical miles from baseline to the territorial waters, continental shelf.

Govt to build houses for tsunami affected people

New Delhi, Dec 21: The Government has decided to built 8,955 houses and other community facilities for the Tsunami affected people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the Finance Minister P Chidambaram announced today. He said it is expected to cost around Rs 1221 crores. The decision was taken at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) held here. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs also gave its approval for the revival.....

Andaman: Package for expansion of Doordarshan

Port Blair, July 13: A special package for expansion and improvement of Doordarshan services in the remote Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been extended by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
