Air services in Visakhapatnam restored

Visakhapatnam, May 15: The Embraer aircraft of the Paramount Airways that overshot the runway here on Saturday, was removed last night, enabling normal resumption of flights.

Airport Traffic Control Manager C Pattabhi told sources that normal operations began with the resumption of all flights.

He said The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Paramount Airways successfully towed the aircraft with caterpillar machine and wooden planks.

Meanwhile, the probe ordered by the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) continued for the fourth day. Air Safety officer, Chennai, who arrived here enquired with the pilot, crew and airport officials in connection with the incident.

The Paramount aircraft would be allowed to take off after getting airworthiness certification.

The probe team recorded the statement of the pilot and the co-pilot. It would submit its report to the DGCA soon.

Indian (formerly Indian Airlines) operates 16 flights daily from here.

Flights of other airlines were not affected and they operated as usual for the last three days, Mr Pattabhi said.
