33 IAS officers reshuffled

Lucknow, May 15 (UNI) The newly-installed Mayawati government in UP has reshuffled 33 Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officers, including 18 who were awaiting postings.

Prominent among those appointed yesterday were Dr Ashok Kumar, as Principal Secretary, National Integrity Department, Pritam Singh as Principal Secretary of Land Development and Water Resources Department, R K Mittal as Principal Secretary of Education Department and V P Singh Bishwen as principal secretary of Textile Department.

A K Joshi has been selected for the post of Principal Secretary of Horticulture and Food Processing Department, whereas Kishan Singh Atauriya was appointed as State Food Commissioner. Anita Bhatnagar Jain becomes secretary of Linguistics Department, whereas Umesh Sinha has been shifted from Appointments Department and becomes Revenue Commissioner and secretary, Revenue replacing Kumar Kanlesh who becomes the secretary, Urban Development.

Maya to reopen closed cases; Lawyers condemn

Pratapgarh, May 20: Counsels of the district today condemned the decision of newly elected Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati to reopen cases taken back during the regime of former chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, saying it was against the law.
