Yuva Morcha to organise 'melaavas' at taluka-level

Panaji, May 14 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Goa unit, has organised a four-day taluka 'melaavas' in the state from tomorrow, to create awareness about the rising unemployment among the youths in the state.

Speaking to reporters here today, the Yuva Morcha president Ashish Shirodkar said the awareness campaign will start from tomorrow at Ponda taluka, covering Priol, Madkai and Shiroda at 1630 hours, and Salcete taluka, covering Margao, Fatorda, Navelim and Cuncolim at 1900 hours. For these melavas, national leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy, who is also in-charge of Goa desk, will address on the opening day.

He said such 'melaavas' will also be held in the other talukas viz Sattari, Bicholim, Peden, Bardez, Quepem, Sagguem, Canacona, and Mormugao. The BJP leaders Navjyot Singh Siddhu and Amit Thakkar will be the main speakers.

He said during the four-day awarenss campaign, the Morcha will register and collect data on unemployed youths in Goa between the age group of of 18 to 40 years.

The total unemployed youth as on December 31, 2006 registered with Goa Employment exchange is 87,302, Mr Shirodkar added.

Government must clarify on terror threat in Goa

New Delhi, Dec 15: The Government was today asked to clarify the situation regarding Israeli Government's advisory to its citizens not to visit Goa in view of the ''concrete threat of Al Qaeda attack'' on tourists there during Christmas season.
