Maran's resignation not to affect telecom industry: Mittal

New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) The entry of foreign players in offering 3G mobile services and allocation of spectrum will not be affected following the resignation of Communication and IT Minister Dayanidhi Maran, Bharti Enterprise Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said here today.

''The government is committed to the telecom industry and is likely to remove all the impediments confronting it,'' he told reporters on the sidelines of a conference.

The telecom industry is on the move and we should look at the government to take positive steps in the direction, Mr Mittal added.

Mr Maran resigned last night from the Cabinet after a resolution was passed against him by his party DMK for 'violating party discipline' and bringing it to disrepute.

Indian hope rests on hockey and tennis
