Fire at Manmad railway station, no casualties

Nasik, May 14 (UNI) A minor fire broke out at the Manmad railway station, about 60 km from here, last evening due to a short circuit.

There were no casualties.

The fire broke out at a diesel-filling facility on the station's platform number 6 at about 1930 hrs, creating chaos among passengers. All the six platforms were vacated immediately, sources said today.

The fire was extinguished within 25 minutes with the help of fire extinguishers available at the platform canteen.

As a result, the train services were affected for some time, sources added.

Kolkata, May 14: At least five persons were injured when 2101 Down Jnaneswari Express hit the buffer of a platform, while entering Howrah station today. Railway officials said the train hit the buffer of platform number 20 at about 0530 hours adding that the passengers were in the train. Among the injured were the driver and the guard of the train who were immediately sent to Railway Orthopaedic Hospital for treatment and.....

Twenty, including SP MLA, booked for burglary

Lucknow, Aug 5: Samajwadi Party MLA Ateek Ahmad and his 20 aides have been booked for burgling auctioned railways scrap at Badgarh area of Chitrakoot district. Police today said railways scrap was auctioned on June 26 to one person. Yesterday, associates of the MLA were illegally carrying the scrap in a truck, when they were caught red-handed by the police.
