Court order on Kohli's extradition reserved

New Delhi, May 14 (UNI) A local court today reserved its order on the extradition of Manendra Pal Kohli, a prime suspect in the alleged rape and murder of 17-year-old British girl Hanna Foster.

After hearing the arguments, New Delhi Additional Chief Metroplitan Magistrate Kamini Lau reserved the case for clarification on June 1 and orders on extradition on June 6.

Kohli was arrested from Siliguri sub division of Darjeeling district when he was trying to cross over to Nepal.

Chandigarh-born Kohli, a graduate from Patiala University, had migrated to England in 1993 and settled down after marrying a British woman. He was working there as a driver with a courier company. Kohli left behind his wife and two children in England after allegedly committing the crime and escaped to India.

Consequent to Kohli's arrest, the ACMM was appointed as an extradition magistrate as per the law.

Ministry of External Affairs argued that Kohli is an absconding criminal and had been evading arrest. He should be extradited to the country where he had committed the crime so that he may be prosecuted.
