Congress slams government for poor power scenario in Bihar

Patna, May 14 (UNI) Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) today came down heavily on the state government for the 'pitiable' power situation amid unbearable heatwave conditions and demanded immediate steps to improve the situation.

BPCC spokesman and senior party leader Kripanath Pathak in a statement here alleged that since the NDA government assumed office about 20 months ago, the situation had turned from bad to worse with large areas of the state remaining without power during most of the day.

Reiterating the party's demand for immediate steps to improve the situation, Mr Pathak also drew the attention of the concerned minister towards the non-availability of electricity in several parts of the city for long hours.

Though the government, in its election manifesto, had promised to improve the situation within three months of returning to power, but it had in fact worsened, the Congress leader charged the government with ''looking after the comfort'' of only the ministers and high officials at the cost of the masses.
