Armyman found dead in lock-up

Allahabad, May 14 (UNI) An armyman was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Kotwali police station lock-up here today.

A native of Almora district, Pratap Singh belonged to Kumaon Regiment and was recently transferred to Allahabad from Lucknow.

Police had picked up Pratap yesterday, following a complaint by Siddhu Yadav of Mirganj area.

According to the complainant, the jawan along with his aide came to his house in an inebriated state and started misbehaving with his daughter, besides assaulting his son.

The armyman was, however, beaten up by Yadav and later handed over to the police. But, he was found dead this morning.

His body has been sent for postmortem and investigation was on.

London, Dec 8 (ANI): A collection of letters and manuscripts that illuminate the life and work of celebrated writer Oscar Wilde, apparently lost for more than 50 years, have been found by academics.The volume contains 50 handwritten pages, including Wilde's earliest surviving letter to his lover Lord Alfred Douglas, whom he called Bosie, which documents the start of his doomed gay relationship with the Magdalen College undergraduate in the early 1890s, reports the Independent.Douglas destroyed most of the letters.....

Washington, Jan 9 (ANI): An international team of scientists has identified six new obesity genes that are active in brain cells.In addition to the FTO and MC4R genes already known, it was now possible for six more obesity genes to be identified: TMEM18, KCTD15, GNPDA2, SH2B1, MTCH2, and NEGR1.The gene expression analyses have shown that all six genes are active in brain cells.In the study involving 59,000 participants conducted by GIANT consortium, the German researchers believe that.....
