Hyderabad, May 14 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today adopted three resolutions on the state government's achievements during the last three years, resolving to work for the poor and initiate several welfare schemes for overall development of the people.

The party, in its political resolution at the re-dedication programme on the occasion of the Congress government completing three years in office, said the government had made unprecedented progress in all the sectors.

Claiming that the government had fulfilled the promises made during elections, the resolution said it had provided seven hours of free power supply and waived off electricity arrears worth Rs 1,200 crore for farmers in the state.

It said the government had given ration cards to all eligible people and taken steps to clear the pending irrigation projects, increase the pension amount from Rs 75 to Rs 200 per month to aged persons, widow and handicapped, and construction of houses for the poor in the state.

The motion of appreciation resolution said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had initiated several welfare schemes for housing and irrigation, besides other welfare measures in the state.

The resolution said the government had taken up 40 irrigation projects to provide irrigation facilities to backward areas. The government had also created infrastructure in the villages to erase differences between the cities and villages, it added.

Maintaining that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi had appreciated the efforts of the Chief Minister, it said the state had attracted foreign investments for the industrial growth due to the Chief Minister's efforts.

It said the people had voted for the Congress as they were vexed with the policies and programmes of the TDP during its nine-year rule.

The state had achieved a lot in all sectors and it should reach the common people at the grassroots level, the resolution said.

It said the government's aim was farmers welfare, industrial growth and creation of employment opportunities. The party and the government resolved to unitedly work for the people and make progresses in the state in all sectors in the coming years.
